Framing Solutions for Prints

When you buy a print, while less expensive than an original, there is often the added work and cost of finding the right framing solution and getting it up on the wall where it's intended to be... adding beauty and happiness to your world!

Below I've outlined a few ideas to help make it quick and painless so you can get that artwork up... no procrastinating!

#1 Quick, Easy + Affordable

This is not rocket science I realize. But... searching around for a good-looking AND affordable framing option isn't always how one would want to spend their time. I purposely create prints in common sizes so you can pick up a standard size frame and pop it in. So... if you're on a budget, then a good-looking, inexpensive frame is what you're after. With affordable framing it's also easier to group pieces in two's, three's or even create a gallery wall. See links below for some of my favorite finds.

Target: Wood frame used in the photo above.

IKEA: Very affordable frame in simple black or white options

West Elm: These are more expensive, but beautiful solid wood (2 colors avail). Custom mat may be needed to fit larger artwork. (Ex. Get the 18"x18" frame and have 12"x12" mat cut at Michaels.). This series is also available in large sets for gallery walls.

#2 A Little More Custom

Now, some of us get a bit more picky. We like a particular wood or a certain size mat that will really make a statement with a favorite print. In this case there are options for customization that won't break the bank. It is a little more expensive and does take a little more time, but for particulars... it's still an easy way to go!

Here are a few resources that I recommend:

Arttoframes.com - I've used by ordering the custom frame, then put the piece inside the frame at home - a little more DIY.

Framebridge.com - I love their framing options. Not overwhelming (which can easily happen on framing sites) and very easy to order. Photo above is from Framebridge - a bonus that you can really see how it's going to look in a room setting.

Simplyframed.com - I have not tried these guys yet, but they come highly recommended.

#3 The Super Custom Route

Ok... say you were not able to buy the original painting because someone scooped it before you were able to. But now that painting is available as a print and you just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Well... you can treat that print just like an original by elevating it's framing status. Low and behold... it looks very close!! So, if you're smitten, and your budget allows, go for it. Take the print to your local framer and do it up. My favorite framing treatment for a print is to mount it on a panel and drop into a floater frame.

Just. Like. An. Original!

I walked in to the home of one of my collectors and saw a print of mine framed in this way and my jaw dropped. It looked amazing!

Now... check out the print collection and make light work of getting them ready to help you create some beautiful new spaces with all of these framing ideas!
