Second cut is at summers' end, when the grass has been cut a second time. Cutting season is so distinct in Montana. All the machines take action in the fields at the same time, often based on the weather and the maturity of the grass. While most of the time the fields are left quiet to grow or to rest... there is a flurry of activity that occurs all at once... cutting and baling. Then the fields are once again left alone... this time with a fresh cut.
